Eating Disorder Treatment
As part of a personalized treatment program at New Haven Residential Treatment Center we provide treatment for adolescent girls struggling with eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder. Our caring and professional staff will help your daughter overcome these eating disorders and start down the path to a healthy and happy life.
Anorexia Treatment
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person is obsessed with being thin to the extreme. Behavioral symptoms may include: refusal to eat, eating very little, strange eating habits, obsession with body image, depression, irritability, wearing baggy clothing, or withdrawal from friends and/or relatives. New Haven’s unified treatment team puts together a plan to help your teenage daughter struggling with anorexia face and overcome the fears associated with weight gain and establish healthy eating habits.
Bulimia Treatment
Bulimia Nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person binges (eats a very large quantity of food) and then purges (vomits, misuses laxatives, fasts or exercises) in an attempt to get rid of the calories consumed. Behavioral symptoms may include: going to the bathroom directly after eating, eating large quantities of food in one sitting, excessive exercising and/or frequent fasting. New Haven’s treatment team establishes a personalized program for your teenage daughter struggling with bulimia that helps her gain control of her eating habits by establishing a healthy body image and self-esteem.
Binge Eating Disorder Treatment
Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by a pattern of dieting and binging. Unlike bulimia, it does not normally include purging (vomiting, misusing laxatives, or excessive exercising). Behavioral symptoms may include: feeling out of control while binging, eating large quantities of food frequently, eating in secret, feelings of guilt or shame, depression and/or obesity. New Haven’s treatment team establishes a plan and provides the structure that your teenage girl fighting with a binge eating disorder will be able to follow and complete. Through the support of our nurturing staff your daughter struggling with a binge eating disorder will gain a healthy self-esteem and establish proper eating habits.
