Clinical Program Overview

New Haven’s Clinical Program is based on family systems theory. Family systems theory acknowledges that people heal and make progress most effectively within the context of families. New Haven welcomes family involvement in each student’s treatment.

New Haven’s clinicians focus a lot of energy on building therapeutic relationships with each student and family. We know from research and experience that the positive therapeutic relationship developed between student, family, and therapist is one of the most powerful agents of change.

New Haven knows that many struggling adolescent girls have grown tired of traditional talk therapies, so our therapists are trained in using more experiential techniques, as well.

New Haven Residential Treatment Center's clinicians choose more nurturing interventions over confrontation as their first approach, and build on strengths rather than focus on weakness.
