Teen Depression
At New Haven Residential Treatment Center we provide treatment for adolescent girls with depression. Depression occurs when strong moods of sadness, hopelessness, discouragement, and despair persist and interfere with an adolescent's ability to function. Teen girls struggling with depression often feel tired, irritable, have appetite changes, and have negative and self-critical thoughts. Treatment for adolescent girls with depression includes individual and family therapy, participation in recreational and equine therapy groups, and participation in specialty groups on emotional regulation. New Haven's treatment team helps and supports families and their teenage girls struggling with depression. Girls that come to New Haven struggling with depression learn how to enjoy life and themselves and gain the ability to function in a way they couldn't before.
