When meeting Austin you will quickly recognize his fun personality and sense of humor. Austin is direct and very intuitive in his work. He has been working in a residential setting since 2013 advocating for and empowering families.
Austin studied psychology and then received his Masters as a Mental Health Counselor at Baylor University in Texas. While working on his master’s degree, Austin was a member of Chi Sigma Iota, a counseling, academic and professional honor society. Austin received his license in Texas while working in residential treatment and gained significant experience in treating teenage trauma, the DBT modality, addiction and recovery.
Austin specializes in Attachment, Family Systems Work, Trauma, DBT, Substance Abuse, and ODD. Austin is a certified member of the EAGALA (Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association). He is involved with the international and nonprofit association for professionals using equine therapy to address mental health and human development needs. He is certified in Sand tray and Suicide Prevention as well as working towards Complex Trauma certifications. At New Haven, he has been instrumental in enhancing our recovery program. You will find Austin’s strength-based approach invites others to recognize the ability each person has to change within themselves.
Austin enjoys playing volleyball, ultimate frisbee, pickleball and some spike ball. You can also challenge him to play video games, invite him out for a cup of coffee or to try a new restaurant.
