Flavia Lima, CTRS
Flavia is originally from Curitiba, Brazil. In 1999 her family moved to Utah, where she was raised to love adventure and the outdoors. Flavia became passionate about helping kids and adolescents after her brother was diagnosed with Hemophilia, a blood clotting disorder, as a teenager. She volunteered as a camp counselor for years at a camp for kids and teens with blood clotting disorders and that is where she was first introduced to Recreation Therapy.
Flavia graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She did her internships at a residential treatment center for teens on the Autism Spectrum and the Women’s Shelter. Before that, she worked as a residential supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school for teens with behavioral and mood disorders.
Flavia loves being able to use her passion of recreation to help bring about change and healing for the New Haven families. She strongly believes in the family approach to therapy and loves being a part of the experience of challenge and change students and families go through in recreational therapy.
Flavia loves exploring the outdoors, playing volleyball, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her crazy Brazilian family. She is so grateful to be a part of the New Haven team and the opportunity she has to help students and their families heal through one of her great passions.
