Ian Carroll

Utah State Teaching Licence (Endorsement: Biology). Ian graduated Cum Laude from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Emergency Services Management, where he learned the skills to mitigate risks, manage emergency situations and plan for future disasters. Ian worked with a volunteer fire department and ran a family business while finishing school. He wanted to start a different career and became a substitute teacher at a local Charter School where he fell in love with teaching! After four years of teaching middle school Math and Science, Ian brought his experience and passion for helping students to New Haven and subsequently completed his teaching licensure requirements and will complete a Master’s Degree in teaching from Western Governors University in early 2016.

Ian specializes in working with students who have fallen through the cracks in the traditional education setting. He enjoys being part of the moment when students realize that they can be successful in the classroom and helping them find the internal drive to be a good student despite the difficulties they are facing.

When not teaching, Ian enjoys being outdoors and photography. He has a blended family with 8 kids at home so there is always something fun happening. Ian loves learning new things and will be a life-long learner, honing his skills both in and out of the classroom.
