Brinda lived in several places growing up, including Utah, Alabama, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Idaho. She participated in a variety of extracurricular activities (dancing, gymnastics, softball, volleyball, drama, debate, and piano). Brinda loves learning and trying new things in every environment she’s introduced to. As a teenager, Brinda began lifeguarding, a skill that has allowed her to fulfill her purpose and passion for helping others.
Brinda graduated from Brigham Young University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy. She completed her internship at New Haven and loved it so much she chose to stay and work as residential staff while waiting for a position to become available in the recreation therapy department. During some of that time, she also worked with geriatrics, adults, and adolescents at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital, where she enjoyed learning more about clinical diagnoses, but missed the relationship-based atmosphere, collaborative treatment team focus, and adventure opportunities at New Haven.
Brinda loves the outdoors and goes backpacking and camping every summer with her family. She spent a summer working as a whitewater rafting tour guide on the Salmon River (the River of No Return) in Riggins, Idaho and still loves the water, whether it be rain, the ocean, a mountain lake/stream, a river, or a sprinkler. In her spare time, Brinda enjoys going on walks with her husband, journaling, and furthering her education.
