Madeline Thorn was born in El Paso Texas and has since spent time in a few various places, including Salt Lake City and Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Global Women’s Studies. She volunteered at Utah State Hospital working with teens while also providing childcare to children and adolescents. Madeline received her Master of Social Work from Utah Valley University.
Madeline has worked for School Districts as a social worker and provided both therapy and community resource services. In this position, Madeline became versed on working with children and adolescents in their school and home environments. This included becoming proficient in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and working with the students, their parents, and teachers to provide the best care and intervention. After this experience, Madeline had the opportunity to work at Primary Children’s Outpatient Behavioral Hospital. In this position, Madeline increased her clinical understanding of working with children and adolescents. This included facilitating therapy groups on ADHD, Anxiety, and Mindfulness practices for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Madeline specializes in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has completed trainings to certify this intervention. Along with this, Madeline specializes in working with adolescents and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Madeline loves New Haven because of its wholistic approach to therapy and its focus on individual and family healing.
In her spare time, Madeline enjoys practicing yoga, being outside, going to concerts, and reading a good book. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their rambunctious dog, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
